Questions about voting

What do I need to vote?

Option 1: Show one of these pieces of ID

  • your driver's licence

  • any other card issued by a Canadian government (federal, provincial/territorial or local) with your photo, name and current address

Option 2: Show two pieces of ID

Both must have your name and at least one must have your current address. Examples:

  • voter information card and bank statement

  • utility bill and student ID card

  • You can see a full list of accepted ID here.

Option 3: If you don't have ID

You can still vote if you declare your identity and address in writing and have someone who knows you and who is assigned to your polling station vouch for you.

The voucher must be able to prove their identity and address. A person can vouch for only one person (except in long-term care facilities).

You can find your polling station online here, or on your voter information card.

If you have difficulty finding your advanced voting location, you can call 1-800-463-6868 for assistance.

Call 613-518-2160 and press one to request a ride to the polls.

You can vote at your assigned polling location from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m

What do I do after I've voted?

After you've finished voting you can still help get Joel elected!

If you are homeless, living in transitional housing or living at a shelter, you still have the right to vote.

You can obtain proof of address, request a staff person at a shelter, drop-in, food bank or community health centre that you recieve services at to help you complete a Letter of Confirmation of Residence form. This form can be accessed here

When you go to vote, take your signed Letter of Confirmation of Residence form and bring your ID OR the person who will be vouching for your identity.

You can still vote if you declare your identity and address in writing and have someone who knows you and who is assigned to your polling station vouch for you.

The voucher must be able to prove their identity and address. A person can vouch for only one person (except in long-term care facilities).

How do I make a plan to vote?

You can make a plan to vote here. We recommend making a plan to vote, putting it in your calendar and asking your friends to go with you so they can vote too!
