Addressing The Drug Toxicity Crisis

An average of 22 Canadians die every day from drug overdoses, and every part of this country has been impacted by the rise of addiction and the drug toxicity crisis.

We know that the solutions to addressing the addiction crisis are not just in a doctor's office or treatment facility, and are committed to tackling this crisis with a wide range of policies and services, including;

  • Declaring the drug toxicity crisis a public health emergency.
  • Ending the criminalization of addiction so that people dealing with addiction can get the help they need without fear of arrest
  • Working with the provinces to create a safe supply of medically regulated alternatives to toxic street drugs, support overdose prevention sites and other forms of peer-to-peer harm reduction services.
  • Increasing access to therapy and community support for hard reduction and addiction treatment services staff.
