WHEREAS occupants of long-term care homes, group homes, retirement homes, and other assisted living homes benefit greatly from seeing visitors;
WHEREAS these same occupants have rights under the Residential Tenancies Act which confirm their ability to see visitors of their own choosing;
WHEREAS on March 4, 2021 members of this Legislature voted unanimously to support Motion 129, “Voula’s Law”;
WHEREAS Voula’s Law calls upon the Government of Ontario to “provide clear direction to operators of retirement homes, long-term care and groups homes that they cannot use the Trespass to Property Act to ban family members who speak out about their loved ones’ living conditions”;
