NDP says limiting testing to assessment centres won’t improve results enough

QUEEN’S PARK — The NDP’s Andrea Horwath says that after over a week of very low testing, it’s clear Doug Ford’s strategy of limiting testing to assessment centres just isn’t working.

“Limiting testing to just the assessment centres is an ongoing mistake,” said Horwath. “We need a new plan to take testing to people, because right now, testing numbers are so low, the government is putting people and the economic re-opening at risk.”

On Monday, the province completed merely 8,170 tests. For the last ten days, Ontario averaged just over 10,800 tests a day – barely half of the 20,000-test goal.
