Harden wants legislature recalled immediately

OTTAWA - NDP MPP Joel Harden (Ottawa Centre) is echoing the call from Official Opposition NDP Leader Andrea Horwath for Doug Ford to recall the legislature immediately:

“Daily COVID-19 case counts in Ottawa are climbing, vaccine distribution is moving at a snail’s pace, and long-term care homes continue to experience dangerous outbreaks. Doug Ford must act and recall the legislature so we can get this crisis under control.

Every day, I’m hearing from constituents who are frustrated by the slow rate of immunization. In Ontario, fewer people per capita have been vaccinated than any other Canadian province. This is unacceptable, and the legislature needs to return so we can revamp this sluggish vaccination plan.
Ottawa has seen some of the province’s worst long-term care COVID-19 outbreaks. Just yesterday, five new outbreaks were declared at Ottawa-area long-term care homes. Ford is sitting on about $12 billion in COVID-fighting funds that he refuses to spend. It’s time for MPPs to return to the legislature so we can unlock the resources that are needed to protect those who are most at risk from the virus.”
